Below is an interview issued by Estrella Galicia with Marc Marquez, in which he discusses the season so far, how he saw the season opener (including that controversial pass on Pedro Acosta during the sprint race at Buriram) and what he expects from 2027.
“From the season, I expect a great competition”
The Estrella Galicia ambassador returned to competition after his injury by claiming a podium finish in the Sprint race in Thailand, before being forced to retire from the Grand Prix due to a mechanical issue. This is how he approaches the 2026 season.
Marc Márquez started this season by returning to competition following the unfortunate injury he suffered in Indonesia last year, just after securing his ninth world title.
At the start of the new campaign at the Thai Grand Prix, Marc proved competitive once again despite some early difficulties. On Saturday, after a frantic Sprint race, he reached the final corner in the lead but was forced to give back the position to his rival Pedro Acosta due to a penalty for a tight manoeuvre on the previous lap.
On Sunday, he approached his first full-length race in several months with a slightly more conservative mindset, running in contention for the final step of the podium until he was forced to retire due to a loss of rear tyre pressure.
He now sits eighth in the championship with nine points. Estrella Galicia 0,0 caught up with the #93 rider to discuss the start of the season and his expectations for the rest of the campaign.
