The Philadelphia Eagles drafted former USC Trojans wide receiver Makai Lemon in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. It was a decision that provided yet another sign that AJ Brown’s time in Philadelphia may be done. When the first round was over, general manager Howie Roseman addressed the rumors swirling around Brown.
While talking with media members on Thursday night, Roseman stated that the 28-year-old wideout is still with the Eagles and that no trades have been made. He then pivoted to Philly, simply focusing on improving the roster through the draft as Day 2 begins on Friday, at 7 p.m. EST.
“I think for us, again, AJ is a member Eagles,” said Roseman about the trade rumors. “We don’t have trades that have been made or that are done. And I think for [the Eagles], we’re taking this one day at a time. We’re going to look to improve the team tomorrow, and we’ll continue to address anything that we have to with our roster. Not only through this draft weekend, but we’ll continue to look for ways to improve the team throughout the offseason.”

So, AJ Brown is an Eagle. For now, at least. Leading up to the NFL Draft, and after Philadelphia selected Makai Lemon, reports have claimed that the Eagles are “expected” to deal the seven-year veteran post-June 1 to the New England Patriots. Although that may be the case, nothing is set in stone until a trade is officially finalized.
While Brown seems to be on his way out the door, Lemon joins the roster as the club’s newest member in the wide receiver room. Lemon, who turns 22 in June, ended the 2025-26 campaign with USC as one of the most productive wide receivers in college football. He finished the season with 79 receptions for 1,156 yards and 11 touchdowns.
