Diego Pavia will have other NFL options if Ravens don’t work

Over the past two seasons, Diego Pavia had a meteoric rise to college football stardom. The former Vanderbilt quarterback burst onto the scene after a stunning upset of Alabama and ascended to prominence after leading Vanderbilt to a historic resurgence in the SEC, which culminated in a 10-win season in his final year with the Commodores. He also won the Heisman Trophy.

But shockingly, Pavia was not selected in the NFL Draft, eventually being picked up by the Baltimore Ravens in undrafted free agency, vying for a chance to make the team in the Ravens’ minicamp. It isn’t a guarantee that Pavia will make the Ravens’ roster, as the team already has Lamar Jackson as the starting quarterback and Tyler Huntley, who has been a long-time backup for Jackson over the past few seasons.

But, per Adam Schefter’s comments on The Pat McAfee Show, Pavia will certainly have options if he’s not signed to the Ravens.

“I’m sure that he’s disappointed that he didn’t get drafted of course. But to me, that’s a good opportunity in Baltimore this week and the Ravens currently have two quarterbacks on their roster. Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley. They currently don’t have a third. It’s been a strong organization for a long time. To me that’s a good opportunity. It’s not what he wanted, but I feel like it’s more important where you go than where you go in the draft and if he can go in there and impress them and get signed to the roster, I like that opportunity.

He added, “The Ravens mini-camp is this weekend, but there are other teams that have mini-camps the next weekend. And there’s other teams that want to bring him in if the Ravens don’t sign him, so there’s already a couple that want to bring him in also. So he’s got a couple invitations.”
