The New York Giants are entering a new era under John Harbaugh, but they may have to do so without one of the best players on their current roster. Star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence has been unhappy with the franchise as he seeks a new contract extension.
Talks have been ongoing through the offseason so far, but it seems they haven’t been going anywhere. Now, the two sides are reportedly far apart and are now at a stalemate, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
“The Giants and star DL Dexter Lawrence, who have been talking about a new big-money extension, have reached an impasse, sources say,” Rapoport wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “The Giants have engaged with teams on a potential trade and that will continue. It should come to a head before the Draft.”
Lawrence is one of the best interior defensive linemen in football, a position that is becoming more and more valuable in recent years. He will have a big market as teams look to improve up front before the NFL Draft.
