Colin Cowherd makes wild Fernando Mendoza-Margot Robbie comp ahead of NFL Draft

Colin Cowherd wants people to stop expecting the world of the 2026 NFL Draft’s top quarterback prospect, Fernando Mendoza. Some of the criticism of Mendoza frustrates him so much that he is pulling comparisons to star actress Margot Robbie out of thin air.

With Mendoza all but guaranteed as the eventual No. 1 pick, Cowherd has grown frustrated with fans comparing him to Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert and Andrew Luck before he has even taken a snap. Cowherd claimed that expecting Mendoza to be the same type of prospect that Luck was is like men expecting every woman they meet to be as appealing as Robbie.

“People say, ‘Well, he’s not Andrew Luck,’” Cowherd said on ‘The Herd with Colin Cowherd.’ “That’s like saying, ‘Well, I’d like to date women, but they’ve got to be at least Margot Robbie.’ You’re gonna be lonely. If that’s your standard, Margot Robbie, all you single, good-looking guys, you’re gonna be lonely the rest of your life.”

What a take.

Cowherd then asked fans to compare Mendoza to the last 17 quarterbacks taken in the first round of the NFL Draft. He believes that the reigning Heisman Trophy winner is a better prospect than all but two of them, placing only Caleb Williams and Drake Maye above him.

Whatever the case may be, almost nothing will stop the Las Vegas Raiders from taking Mendoza with the No. 1 pick of the 2026 NFL Draft. Las Vegas has already gone all-in on its next franchise quarterback and sent veteran Geno Smith to the New York Jets in March.
