The Kansas City Chiefs have not made many moves in free agency, but the ones that they’ve made have been pretty big. One of them was bringing back Travis Kelce, after there were rumors last season would possibly be his last in the league. Once it was announced he would return for another season, there were thoughts he would sign elsewhere besides the Chiefs.
In the end, Kelce couldn’t leave where he’s been his entire career and made the decision to return to the Chiefs for another season. After the deal was announced, the Chiefs made a hype video for Kelce, and at the end, the screen says, “He’s back.”

Throughout most of last season, there were thoughts growing that Kelce would go off into the sunset. It was a big deal when they played their last home game of the regular season, because it was just uncertain if he would return or come back the following season.
Throughout the offseason, things were quiet until Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported that there was a good chance that Kelce would return to play another season. The only problem was that he was looking around the market to see where he would play, as the Chiefs didn’t have the cap space to give him what he wanted.
During the NFL Combine, general manager Brett Veach noted that they were prepared for Kelce to either return or retire, and that they were going to give him the space to make his decision.
Kelce chose loyalty over anything else and made the choice to return to the team where he’s spent his entire career. After not making the playoffs last season, the Chiefs will be looking to get back to their dominance, and they’ll have the rest of the offseason to improve their team.
