Carnell Tate reveals what Jayden Daniels said to him before the NFL Draft

Carnell Tate is expected to be one of the first wide receivers taken off the board in the 2026 NFL Draft. With numerous teams potentially in the mix to select the former Ohio State Buckeye, Tate reveals that Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels reached out to him via DM well before the draft.

During a guest appearance on “Up and Adams” with Kay Adams, the 21-year-old wide receiver claimed that Daniels informed him that he hopes the Commanders select him in the first round. The Commanders own the No. 7 pick overall, so it is a realistic possibility.

“I haven’t [met Jayden Daniels],” said Tate. “[He] reached out over social media to me. We had a little text going back and forth… He just said that hopefully, it all works out I end up [in Washington]. Just wishing me well.”

Daniels might become the happiest man on the planet if the Commanders take Tate at No. 7 overall. The prospect wideout would likely become the immediate No. 2 option behind Terry McLaurin in the passing game, with aspirations of becoming the No. 1 target at some point down the road. Wide receiver is a need for Washington, considering the club enters the draft with Treylon Burks and Luke McCaffrey as the best options behind McLaurin.

Carnell Tate was a solid wide receiver at Ohio State. Although he never surpassed the 1,000-yard mark in a single season, he proved to be a brilliant deep-threat for the Buckeyes in two of his three seasons with the program. Tate ended his collegiate career with 121 receptions, 1,872 yards, and 14 touchdowns in 39 games played.
