Cardinals add fuel to Ty Simpson fire with last-minute visit

The Arizona Cardinals are ready for the 2026 NFL Draft. Arizona is set to add a defensive playmaker with the third overall pick in the draft. But some news just a week before the draft could have fans begging the Cardinals to draft a different prospect during the first round.

Alabama QB Ty Simpson is on a top-30 visit with the Cardinals on Wednesday, per ESPN’s Field Yates. It is the final day that draft prospects are allowed to make pre-draft top 30 visits.

This should come as no surprise to Cardinals fans who want their team to add a quarterback in the draft.

There has been plenty of speculation about Arizona trading up for Simpson towards the end of the first round. That way, they could gain the important fifth-year option on his rookie contract. It is the same strategy the Giants used in 2025 to land Jaxson Dart.

The Cardinals released QB Kyler Murray after seven seasons as the team’s franchise leader. Now Arizona will enter the draft with Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew as their top options at quarterback.

Understandably, Cardinals fans are hoping for more out of the quarterback position in 2026. That’s where the Simpson hype comes in.

It does not help that mock drafts continue to pair Simpson with the Cardinals just a week before the big event.

At this point, Cardinals fans must be anxious to learn if their team is actually interested in landing Simpson. Fortunately, they only have to wait one more week to find out.
