Bengals’ Dexter Lawrence gets $28 million contract extension after Giants trade

The Cincinnati Bengals took a massive swing to try to fix their defensive woes on Saturday, sending the No. 10 overall pick to the New York Giants for star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence. Lawrence had requested a trade away from the Big Apple because he and the Giants had failed to agree on a new contract extension, so naturally he was going to get one from Cincinnati.

Now, the terms of that extension are official. Lawrence is getting a one-year, $28 million contract extension that puts him under contract through the 2028 season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Lawrence was set to play out the final two years of his current four-year, $87.5 million deal. Now, he gets a big raise in year three with Cincinnati.
