Chicago Bears linebacker TJ Edwards season came to an end after he broke his ankle in the team’s playoff victory over the Green Bay Packers. Now, he is making progress towards his return to the gridiron.
Edwards was forced to be carted off the field following his injury. But he is beginning to feel more like himself and has a plan in place on how he wants his rehab his ankle, via Adam Hoge of CHGO.
“T.J. Edwards says he’s starting to feel like himself again after suffering a broken ankle in the playoffs,” Hoge wrote. “Won’t rush back, but a summer return sounds like a realistic target.”
Despite having to ride the cart, Edwards didn’t leave the stadium after suffering his injury. He opted to stay with his team and support them as they came away with a playoff victory, via Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times.
“I was in the locker room, I wasn’t leaving,” Edwards said. “I got to celebrate with all the guys and hop around, which is probably not what I should be doing. Just excited to be a part of it.”

Due to a previous hand injury, Edwards was limited to 10 games in 2025. He put up 67 tackles, half a sack, five passes defended and an interception. He’ll be playing a crucial role once again in 2026. And he’ll have a new linebacker running mate in Devin Bush after the team released Tremaine Edmunds.
But the first order of business is getting Edwards back on the field. He is feeling physically better now. Still, the Bears will be cautious with their linebacker throughout the offseason.
