Netflix announced on Monday that the WNBA All-Star would join the second season of its hit series The Hunting Wives in a “co-starring” role. While character and plot details are under wraps for the time being, Reese will portray “Trainer Barbie,” a nod to the “Bayou Barbie” nickname she earned while repping Louisiana State University.

With the WNBA in a relative holding pattern amidst its ongoing collective bargaining agreement negotiations, Reese is building a filmography. She previously appeared as herself in the Netflix original film “A House of Dynamite” as well as the music video for the Latto/Cardi B collaboration “Put It on da Floor Again.”

Reese was also one of several high-profile LSU subjects, alongside fellow Bayou Bengals Jayden Daniels, Livvy Dunne, and basketball teammate Flau’jae Johnson, in the Prime Video docuseries The Money Game: LSU.

She will also have a voiceover role in Sony’s upcoming “Goat,” an animated film produced by Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry that will also feature hardwood talents like Andre Iguodala, Kevin Love, Dwyane Wade, and reigning WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson.

Based on the novel of the same name by May Cobb, The Hunting Wives was a breakout hit for Netflix upon its release last summer. The drama stars Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman as members of an elite socialite group that yields the series name, and Reese is one of several noticeable names joining the fray, next to Cam Gigandet and John Stamos.

Reese was one of many captivated by the series, which she labeled a “CRAZYYYY but good watch.” Though “not satisfied” by the original season’s ending, Reese lobbied series creator Rebecca Cutter for a role in the follow-up on X.

For Reese, The Hunting Wives was perhaps a fitting distraction from a trying second season with the Chicago Sky, which sat at the bottom of the WNBA standings with the Dallas Wings. Reese made the most of it with another All-Star showing, averaging 14.7 points and a league-best 12.6 rebounds.

As a 2024 rookie entrant, Reese is one of the few WNBA veterans under contract for this upcoming season, a list that also includes fellow Chicago draftees Kamilla Cardoso, Hailey Van Lith, and Maddy Westbeld.

Season 2 of The Hunting Wives is currently in production, with the release date yet to be announced.
