Cincinnati Open—Mason, Ohio
Alcaraz, Zverev, Gauff and Pegula Highlight Day 8 Action at 2025 Cincinnati Open
Tuesday’s ATP Tour and WTA Results and Previews from Cincinnati
Tuesday’s schedule at the Cincinnati Open in Mason, Ohio will be highlighted by men’s No. 2 seed Carlos Alcaraz, No. 3 seed Alexander Zverev, and women’s No. 2 seed Coco Gauff and No. 4 seed Jessica Pegula.
Narrowly escaping a first-round defeat on Sunday to Damir Dzumhur in three sets, Alcaraz returns on Tuesday to face another tricky opponent in Hamad Medjedovic from Serbia.
Alcaraz opted to miss the Toronto Masters to rest before his fall season, and he will have a lot riding on his performance in Cincinnati this week. The Spaniard has never won the Cincinnati title, although he came very close in 2023 when he lost Novak Djokovic in a third set tiebreaker in the finals.
Other matches on the day will feature Zverev taking on No. 27 seed Brandon Nakashima, No. 5 seed Ben Shelton going up against Roberto Bautista Agut, No. 9 seed Andrey Rublev facing No. 21 seed Alexi Popyrin, and No. 14 seed Karen Khachanov versus Jenson Brooksby of the United States.
On Monday, top seed Jannik Sinner defeated Gabriel Diallo 6-2, 7-6(6), No. 4 seed Taylor Fritz ousted Lorenzo Sonego 7-6(4), 7-5, No. 7 seed Holger Rune dismissed No. 28 seed Alex Michelsen 7-6(4), 6-3, and No. 10 seed Frances Tiafoe dispatched Ugo Humbert 6-4, 6-4.
No. 13 seed Tommy Paul was upset by wily veteran Adrian Mannarino 5-7, 6-3, 6-4.
Gauff and Pegula Return to Action
No. 2 seed Coco Gauff and No. 4 seed Jessica Pegula return to action on Tuesday in Mason, Ohio.
Gauff will face No. 32 seed Dayana Yastremska, and Pegula will take on No. 31 seed Magda Linette from Poland.
Gauff recently lost to Yastremska in the first round of Wimbledon, and Pegula will take a 3-0 head-to-head series lead against Linette in their third round encounter.
Other matches on the day will feature No. 7 seed Jasmine Paolini going up against No. 26 seed Ashlyn Krueger, No. 16 seed Clara Tauson facing Veronika Kudermetova, No. 11 seed Karolina Muchova taking on Varvara Gracheva, and No. 23 seed and former French Open winner Jelena Ostapenko versus Lucia Bronzetti from Italy.
On Monday, top seed Aryna Sabalenka needed a third set tiebreaker to oust Emma Raducanu, No. 6 seed Madison Keys recorded a straight set victory over Aoi Ito from Japan, and Anna Kalinskaya defeated Wimbledon finalist Amanda Anisimova 7-5, 6-4.
