Alcaraz and Sabalenka face $1.85 million federal tax bill after historic US Open triumphs
New analysis by AskGamblers has found that Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka both face seven-figure tax bills from the US Government as a result of their US Open success at the Arthur Ashe Stadium over the weekend.
Alcaraz emphatically beat Jannik Sinner to claim his sixth Grand Slam title in New York on Sunday, meanwhile on Saturday, Sabalenka beat Amanda Anisimova to clinch a fourth Grand Slam.
Following both Alcaraz and Sabalenka’s success in New York, a new study has found that the US Government is set to secure a significant tax windfall from the tournament.
Alcaraz and Sabalenka both face $1.85 million dollar tax bills, analysis finds
AskGamblers analysis has found that Alcaraz and Sabalenka are both set to be hit with a tax bill of $1,850,000 following their US Open victories at the Arthur Ash Stadium.
Both players will face a $1,850,000 US Federal tax bill, alongside a separate tax bill from New York State, worth a further 9%-10% of their winnings.
The US Federal tax rate is 37% for an income over $626,350.
Sinner and Anisimova set for $925,000 tax bills despite defeat in the final
Further analysis has also revealed that Jannik Sinner and Amanda Anisimova, who both suffered losses in the US Open finals over the weekend, will be subject to a federal tax bill of $925,000.
Like the winners, both players will also be subject to a state tax bill in New York.
