Are Jets a quarterback destination? Dan Orlovsky makes the case

The New York Jets were never known as a premier destination, given their overall lack of success and dysfunction that often makes them the butt of jokes around the NFL. However, the rebuild might finally be gaining some traction, as a successful 2026 NFL Draft Class and some wide-open cap space in 2026 might be just what the Jets need to go to the top, according to ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky.

“I think the franchise was thinking about the future 2027 quarterback last week. I don’t remember the last time there was this real hope in New York. I think if we span the 32 organizations, there’s about as much hope for the future in New York as there is anywhere. If we just fast-forward to this time next year, the Jets would be sitting on $150 million in cap space and three first-round picks,” Orlovsky said. “That’s a very enticing place to go to for a young quarterback.”

Orlovsky also spoke highly of the picks the Jets made in the 2026 NFL Draft, specifically tight end Kenyon Sadiq and wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr., who would give a young quarterback some great weapons along with Garrett Wilson. Add in a young offensive line and a quarterback on a rookie deal, and they could have a great future in New York.

One of the best ways to accelerate a rebuild for any NFL team is to supplement all the positions around a quarterback and try to find someone in the draft who can make an immediate impact while being on their rookie deal. It seems like the Jets are adopting that strategy.
