The Buffalo Bills were the most active team on the opening night of the 2026 NFL Draft, executing three separate trades that allowed them to exit the first round entirely. General Manager Brandon Beane transformed seven initial picks into nine selections, and the team’s trading activities may not be finished.
According to insider Jordan Schultz, Buffalo is currently receiving calls about the 35th overall pick as the second round begins.
By moving back, Beane continues to prioritize accumulating draft capital and building roster depth, even if it means waiting longer to make their first selection of the weekend.
As the draft unfolds, he has also addressed the status of wide receiver Keon Coleman.
Sal Capaccio reported on X that Beane responded to ongoing trade rumors, stating that while multiple teams inquired about Coleman between the Combine and the owners’ meetings, the Bills “shut those down” immediately.
Beane emphasized that the organization’s intention is for Coleman to remain in Buffalo, successfully deterring further trade discussions during the draft itself.
“We’ve hit the reset button with him,” he remarked, expressing hope that the fanbase remains supportive.
He firmly believes that Coleman’s best football is still ahead of him as they head into the 2026 season.
This commitment aligns with comments made by head coach Joe Brady in March 2026, who expressed similar confidence in the young wide receiver.
Brady told Jon Scott of WGRZ that Coleman would not be “pushed aside” despite a challenging previous season.
Instead, the Bills have developed a structured plan to cultivate the 22-year-old into the elite target they envisioned when they drafted him in 2024.
With both the GM and head coach in agreement, Buffalo is signaling a strong commitment to Coleman’s potential for the upcoming year.
