The Denver Broncos’ journey to the Super Bowl essentially ended after Bo Nix suffered a broken bone injury in his right ankle in the 33-30 playoff win over the Buffalo Bills. With the offseason in full swing, the club received an official update about Nix’s recovery process.
Reports indicate that the 26-year-old quarterback had met with his doctor for a scheduled re-check on his ankle, according to Broncos insider Benjamin Allbright. Nix continues his recovery and is said to be making progress toward becoming healthy.
“Per multiple sources, Broncos QB Bo Nix met in person with Dr Waldrop for a scheduled re-check on his ankle this past week,” reported Allbright. “Nix continues his recovery back for Broncos this season…. Continuing to progress.”
Nix underwent surgery to repair his ankle in mid-January. He is expected to make a full recovery by the summer, which means if he remains on track, he’ll be back in action by minicamp in June. That gives Bo Nix plenty of time to prepare and be ready for Week 1 of the new season.
The timing of the injury was less than ideal, as it happened in the middle of the playoffs. Denver was forced to play the next game in the postseason without its star quarterback. That contest resulted in an ugly 10-7 loss to the New England Patriots.
Nix has looked solid in his first two years in the league. He finished the 2025-26 campaign with 3,931 passing yards and 25 touchdowns while completing 63.4% of his pass attempts. Bo Nix also scored an additional five touchdowns on the ground and led the NFL in pass attempts with 612.
