The Miami Dolphins have been cleaning up during the 2026 NFL Draft. Miami already landed one steal on Day 2 in wide receiver Chris Bell. Now the Dolphins have landed a defensive player who is also regarded as a steal compared to consensus boards.
The Dolphins selected linebacker Kyle Louis out of Pittsburgh with the 138th pick of the draft. At least one league executive views this pick as one of the “steals” of the 2026 draft.
“One executive just now on new #Dolphins LB Kyle Louis: ‘One of the steals of the whole draft,’” the executive told NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
Louis is a bit of a tweener at 5-foot-11 and 220 pounds. He has enough size and speed to hold his own as a box safety. But his lack of size can become a liability when lining up as an off-ball linebacker.
Louis is an ideal lurker in coverage. His speed and athleticism help him quickly responds to whatever an offense throws at him. Louis thrives when playing in coverage but is also capable of flying downhill and making a big play.
Case in point, Louis logged 24 tackles for loss, six interceptions, and 10 sacks during his final two collegiate seasons.
It is easy to see Louis having a big role in Miami in the near future.
Tyrel Dodson is in the final year of his current contract, and Miami has an out on Jordyn Brooks’ deal after 2026. Miami already spent a second-round pick on linebacker Jacob Rodriguez, who projects as the team’s middle linebacker of the future.
Perhaps Louis fits into the picture as a WILL linebacker who will primarily see work on passing downs.
It will be exciting to see who Miami selects with the remainder of their Day 3 picks.
