The New York Giants used one of their two first-round picks on Thursday on edge rusher Arvell Reese. Despite initially claiming they have no intentions of trading Kayvon Thibodeaux after making the pick, the rumor mill is now saying otherwise, as it sounds like the New Orleans Saints could be attempting to make a move.
Reports indicate that the Giants and Saints have been in talks on a potential trade, sending Thibodeaux to New Orleans, according to insider Jordan Schultz. It’s said that a trade could be made during Day 2 of the NFL Draft, and that more teams than just the Saints are possibly in the mix for the 25-year-old edge rusher.
“Sources: The Giants have engaged in trade conversations involving DE Kayvon Thibodeaux, and the Saints are among the teams showing strong interest,” reported Schultz. “If a deal happens, it could be as soon as tonight. Giants have been open to listening.”
To make the rumors a bit more legitimate, another report claims that the Saints have been inquiring about Thibodeaux since February, per Nick Underhill of New Orleans Football Network. Underhill states that the Giants may have to reduce the asking price to get a deal done.
“This has been a long-going conversation,” said Underhill. “Tires were kicked back in February. I think the price might have to dip a little to make it happen.”
Kayvon Thibodeaux is a four-year veteran who has dealt with injury woes the past two seasons. The Giants very well could be shopping him after using the No. 5 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft on Arvell Reese, a year after taking edge rusher Abdul Carter in 2025.
