Jets’ David Bailey reveals which Pro Bowlers he models his game after

The New York Jets have been fighting to make a name for themselves in the AFC East for years, but their struggle never seems to end. The Jets finished in last place in the AFC East last season and that misfortune on the field allowed the Jets to have the No. 2 pick in the NFL Draft. They used that selection to take edge rusher David Bailey out of Texas Tech.

Bailey had a monstrous year for the Red Raiders as he led the nation with 14.5 sacks last season. The Jets are hoping that he can make a quick transition to the NFL and show off the same kind of pass-rush ability that he showed nearly every week to the college football fans in Lubbock, Texas.

Bailey is a powerful man at 6-3 and 251 pounds. He has an extremely strong lower body that regularly allows him to get a strong push against opposing offensive linemen. He also has 4.5 speed in the 40 and he can use his quickness to establish his edge when rushing the passer.

He has modeled his game after a couple of NFL stars, including Von Miller and Aidan Hutchinson. “When I started watching pro football seriously, I started watching Miller,” Bailey said. “He was the one I really took notice of when I watched the NFL. Hutchinson has that great 3-point stance and that allows him to get off the line quickly. I try to use that as well.”

The Jets also had two other picks in the first round. They used the 16th pick to select tight end Kenyon Sadiq of Oregon and the 30th pick overall to select Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr.
