The Atlanta Falcons have been in standstill mode as details surrounding James Pearce Jr.’s domestic violence incident with Rickea Jackson continue to come out. It’s uncertain what the Falcons will do, but the latest news shows that he may get his charges dropped, according to Andy Slater.
“Falcons’ James Pearce Jr. will have all of his charges dismissed if he completes a program offered to him by the state of Florida, I’ve learned. While details are still being worked out, Pearce Jr. would have to attend therapy sessions and stay out of trouble over a six-month period. His attorney, Yale Sanford, tells me the victim, Rickea Jackson, and the police officers in this case spoke to the state attorney’s office and agreed to this as well,” Slater wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
As part of the intervention program, Pearce has to stay away from Jackson.
Pearce is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, fleeing police and resisting arrest, as well as misdemeanor stalking. The charges are from a Feb. 7 incident where Pearce ran his car into Jackson’s car while they were on the road, and she tried to get to the Doral police station. Officers tried to confront James, but he drove away, which led to him crashing at an intersection.
He then tried to run on foot before police caught him, and he then tried resisting arrest. He was sent to jail overnight and released on bond the next day.
Jackson wrote in a protective order filing two days later that she drove to the police station because she knew James was going to hurt her.
The situation between Pearce and James goes back to November 2025, when officers said they responded to at least eight 911 calls involving the ex-couple since then and his arrest.
Pearce was the 24th pick in the draft last year and finished with 10.5 sacks.
