The Los Angeles Rams made it all the way to the NFC Championship Game last season. Matthew Stafford won the MVP award while throwing to arguably the best receiver duo in the league in Puka Nacua and Davante Adams. The team has already gotten to work getting better so they can try to take the next step forward and get back to the Super Bowl, too.
The Rams specifically prioritized adding defensive backs. They made a huge trade for Trent McDuffie, and he has already been locked up to a massive contract that makes him the highest-paid cornerback in football. Former Kansas City Chiefs’ partner in crime Jaylen Watson was also added as a free agent.
Now, the Rams don’t have any glaring weaknesses, but there are definitely places in which they can still improve. Despite the big-name talent at receiver on the roster, the Rams could actually use another pass catcher. Stafford is only getting older, so it would take some of the pressure off of his shoulders if Los Angeles secured a solid third pass-catching option. The next time the Rams can add talent will be at the 2026 NFL Draft.
This year’s draft class is loaded with receiver talent, but it might be overkill to pursue one of the best receivers early in the draft. Carnell Tate, Makai Lemon, and Jordyn Tyson have star power written all over their draft profiles. The Rams should instead see if any receivers fall down the draft board. They could even avoid drafting a receiver altogether and leverage their draft capital into making a trade for a veteran. So, what draft-day trade should the Rams consider making?
The Rams should trade for Keon Coleman

Los Angeles Rams receive: Keon Coleman
Buffalo Bills receive: 2026 sixth-round pick, 2026 seventh-round pick, future sixth-round pick
Rather than investing premium draft capital in another receiver, the Rams could buy low on Keon Coleman. The Florida State product was one selection away from being a first-round pick just two years ago, but he hasn’t quite lived up to his pre-draft billing yet. Coleman has 67 receptions over two seasons.
He has also been surrounded by drama during his tenure with the Buffalo Bills. Bills owner Terry Pegula made controversial comments suggesting that it was Buffalo’s former coaching staff that wanted Coleman, and not the Bills’ decision makers. The throwing of Coleman under the bus alienated the receiver and left him in a weird position going forward, because it is clear that certain members of the organization don’t have much confidence in him going forward. Additionally, Coleman has been a healthy scratch on numerous occasions and was previously benched for disciplinary reasons.
Considering the fact that the Bills also revamped the receiving corps with the addition of DJ Moore, it is very possible the team will be looking to trade Coleman this offseason. A change of scenery could be exactly what the receiver needs, and in this scenario, he’d be going from one MVP quarterback to another.
With defenses giving so much attention to Adams and Nacua, Coleman would be in a prime position to finally break out and drop his looming bust label. He was highly touted not long ago and could certainly still reach his potential. While Coleman would operate as the third receiver in a stacked offense for now, Stafford and Adams don’t have a lot of time left in the NFL, so the Bills could bank on Coleman eventually taking on a bigger role, too.
If the Bills are ready to cut bait, it may only take a few late-round picks for the Rams to get a deal done. If Coleman revives his career, this trade would be a steal; if he doesn’t, it would be no harm, no foul for Los Angeles.
