ESPN’s Mel Kiper has released his final mock for the first two rounds of the 2026 NFL Draft. For the Philadelphia Eagles, Kiper believes that Howie Roseman will go with an offensive tackle in the first round over a wide receiver, despite the AJ Brown trade drama.
“The Eagles don’t typically let future needs become current problems. General manager Howie Roseman is tactful in how he keeps the roster stocked with depth and future replacements. The question here, though, is whether Roseman will add the next in line behind receiver A.J. Brown (trade candidate) or offensive tackle Lane Johnson (turning 36). The value is better for the latter in this projection, and Miller is a perfect fit after playing over 3,500 snaps at right tackle in college.”
Miller is going to be a great protector in the NFL. Miller has been linked to teams toward the end of the first round, including the Los Angeles Chargers, who are in need of an interior lineman. The Chargers have two All-Pro tackles, so if he is linked there, it means he could have the ability to play a guard spot. However, at 6-foot-7, Miller is better positioned at tackle. If the Eagles take Miller, then they are preparing for the future when Lane Johnson is no longer a part of the plans.
Miller is a two-time First Team All-SEC, his last two years at Clemson.
The Eagles are going to save $20 million if they wait and trade AJ Brown after June 1. It seems like a no-brainer that they are going to wait. Philly has plenty of time to figure out his replacement if they are going to move forward with that plan.
