USC football’s Makai Lemon to visit NFC East team amid NFL Draft hype

The USC football program has consistently churned out talented NFL players over the past decade. Quarterback Caleb Williams and wide receiver Jordan Addison are just two examples of recent first-round picks from USC. One wide receiver could keep that trend alive if he is selected in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft.

USC wide receiver Makai Lemon will have a visit with the Commanders on Wednesday, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz. Lemon also visited the Dolphins on Monday.

Lemon is projected to be a top pick in the draft, and the interest from these two teams seems to solidify that projection. The Commanders hold the seventh overall pick in the draft, while the Dolphins select at 11th and 30th overall.

Trojans fans will not be surprised that Lemon is receiving attention ahead of the draft. He dominated for USC in 2025, hauling in 79 receptions for 1,156 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. Lemon even won the Biletnikoff Award over Ohio State star Jeremiah Smith.

NFL scouts appear to view Lemon as a versatile wide receiver who could fit into almost any offense in the league. He has even received some pro comparisons to Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, another fellow Trojan.

Unfortunately, not every scout in the league is sold on Lemon. Some NFL executives told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler that Lemon performed poorly during pre-draft interviews. Sources questioned Lemon’s ability to recall details of USC’s offense when talking with NFL teams before the draft. Hopefully those reports do not hurt Lemon’s draft stock.

Either way, it will be exciting to see where Lemon lands in the draft next week.
