Giants HC John Harbaugh sheds light on Malik Nabers, Cam Skattebo injury timelines

Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo are both dealing with injuries of their own in the middle of the offseason. On Tuesday, New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh revealed some details about each of their potential timelines to return.

Harbaugh, who is 63 years old, claimed that Skattebo is on track to return from his right ankle injury before Nabers returns from his right ACL tear, according to Pat Leonard of NYDN Sports. It sounds like Skattebo could be back at some point in the spring, while Nabers won’t return until training camp.

“Not too much,” said Harbaugh when asked about what he knows about Nabers and Skattebo’s estimated time of return. “Skatt is probably gonna be ahead of Malik with that. I think you guys all know that. Skatt will probably get out there at some point in time … Malik is gonna be more toward into training camp and closer to the season. That’s more Malik’s timeline.”

Nabers suffered his right ACL tear during the Giants’ 21-18 Week 4 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. It was a non-contact injury that forced the 22-year-old wide receiver to be removed from the contest immediately.

As for Skattebo, who is 24 years old, he sustained a severe broken right ankle in the Giants’ 38-20 Week 8 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Cam Skattebo was forced to miss the rest of the season after displaying major potential as a star-caliber running back for New York.

Although their timelines are different, it sounds like both could be ready to play by the start of the 2026-27 campaign. It will likely depend on how the rehabbing and return process plays out for both stars, but John Harbaugh’s update seems positive for Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo.
