The Chicago Bears changed the look of their offense completely in the 2025 NFL Draft, adding Colston Loveland and Luther Burden. Now, the 2026 NFL Draft will offer the Bears another opportunity to continue building their roster.
While Chicago has made massive changes to their offensive line, the left tackle position remains unsettled. Which is why Alabama tackle Kadyn Proctor was selected by the Bears at No. 25 in Peter Schrager of ESPN’s latest mock draft.
“Proctor is a mass of humanity. He weighed in at 358 pounds at his pro day — but he can move. If he keeps his weight down, Proctor has as much upside as any tackle in this class. And frankly, I think he is going earlier than No. 25,” Schrager said. “But with Ozzy Trapilo out and Braxton Jones’ uneven play, Chicago would be happy with this outcome. General manager Ryan Poles is often credited for the Trey Smith and Creed Humphrey picks in Kansas City, and he has the chance to add another star to the list.”
With Ozzy Trapilo suffering a patellar tendon rupture, his status for 2026 is murky at best. As it stands, the Bears best options at LT are Theo Benedet, Braxton Jones and Jedrick Willis Jr. All three offer upside, but Chicago is still looking for their long-term answer at Caleb Williams’ blindside. Selecting a player like Proctor ensures they have a player to build around at the position.
The tackle is coming to the NFL after playing 40 games over his three years with Alabama. Proctor ended his time with the Crimson Tide as a Consensus All-American and the Jacobs Blocking Trophy winner.
The Bears have plenty of decisions to make in terms of how they want to build their roster. If they were to draft Proctor, it would be another strong investment towards keeping Williams upright in the pocket.
