Marco Bezzecchi And Luca Marini Handed 2-place Grid Penalty For Slow Riding In Q2

Marco Bezzecchi and Luca Marini have been handed two-place grid penalties for riding slow on the line during Q2. The two riders were riding slowly at the end of the back straight as Marc Marquez came up behind them on a flying lap. The FIM Stewards ruled that both riders had gotten in the way of Marquez, and forced him to abandon his lap.

Ai Ogura was ruled not to have hindered Pecco Bagnaia during the same session. Ogura was at the tail of a group of riders on an out lap in the first sector when Bagnaia came up behind them. But that first section is so complicated that it is impossible to get out of the way.

The grid penalties will not apply during the sprint races, only for the main race on Sunday. That means that Bezzecchi will start from 4th, and Marini will start from 11th.
