Austin MotoGP Thursday Round Up: Ducati’s Problems, KTM’s Lack Of Speed, And Acosta’s Retirement Plans

Back-to-back MotoGP weekends feel like one event has barely finished before the next one starts. As hectic as they are, the advantage is that they are close enough together for riders still to be deeply engaged with the previous race. And that can in itself be revealing.

Just days after leaving Goiânia in Brazil, the MotoGP paddock has assembled again at the Circuit Of The Americas, with the events of Brazil still freshly in their minds. Still, nobody was interested in talking about the farcical events of Goiânia, the sinkhole and tarmac coming apart on the racing line.

In response to a question in the press conference, Marco Bezzecchi, Fabio Di Giannantonio, and Marc Márquez all gave the most anodyne answer possible. Understandably perhaps: the Brazilian GP weekend is over, and any energy they expend on the subject will be wasted. Any newsworthy comments they make will reverberate through the media, and they’ll be forced to deal with more questions throughout the weekend. That won’t make them any faster on Saturday and Sunday, which is all that matters.
