Neil Morrison: Where has this version of Jorge Martin come from?
To say there was a fair bit to get worked up over during Brazil’s a first Grand Prix in 22 years would be something of an understatement.
Whether it was Saturday’s sinkhole that caused an 80-minute delay, Sunday’s hasty cutting of the race distance four minutes before the actual start, or the general state of the facilities (prisoners from a local penitentiary were called in to assist up to Friday), there was enough chaos to give previous running of the event (1987-89, 1992 and 1995-2004) a run for their money.
In terms of drama, the on-track action simply couldn’t compete. Yet hidden among the swell of a thousand different tarmac memes, including Carmelo Ezpeleta’s head superimposed on the Shawshank Redemption warden’s head, there were pretty significant developments on track. None more so than Aprilia’s second slaying of Ducati in as many Sunday races.
