Action Delayed Due To Weather Conditions At Goiânia MotoGP Round

Action is yet to get underway at the Brazilian round of MotoGP at Goiânia, as heavy overnight rain has once again left water on track, with parts of the circuit still underwater. Moto3 was due to get underway at 9am local time, and as of this writing, it is unclear when the track will be clean and dry enough to get underway. Provisionally, Moto3 FP1 has been scheduled to start at 10am.

The amount of rain is unusually heavy, but the Brazilian round is taking place in the middle of Goiânia’s rainy season. There are heavy rains almost every day from October to April in the region, with a much drier period during the southern hemisphere’s winter. A race in May or June would face better conditions, but that does not fit with the rest of the MotoGP calendar, freight costs being prohibitive.
