Unrivaled, a three-on-three women’s professional league, was co-founded by Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier. A league designed by players for players is now in its second season.

With the one-on-one tournament set to begin Wednesday, the league announced Reese has agreed to a new deal for the remainder of the 2026 season, and will rejoin Rose BC. She’s set to make her season debut on Feb. 20 against Hive BC.

“Good morning to my Rosebuds & my Rosebuds ONLY!”  Reese wrote on X.

It was this week that Unrivaled announced its first trade of the season.  While Hive BC, Vinyl BC, and Breeze BC swapped players as part of the deal, fans were left waiting in anticipation as Azurá Stevens departed Rose. The question remained: Who would Rose receive in return? Several fans expressed interest in Reese’s return. It turns out they received their wish.

Former Defensive Player of the Year and Unrivaled champion with Rose BC, Reese set an individual record for rebounds (21). The league’s leader in rebounds per game (12.15 RPG), Reese ranked atop the leaderboards in offensive boards (51) and defensive rebounds (119) in 14 games. Making history as the only player to record a 20-point, 20-rebound game, Reese left her mark on Unrivaled’s inaugural season.

How Angel Reese’s Return Impacts Rose BC

Following Stevens’s departure, Reese joins the club, which has struggled to a 5-6 record this season.  Ranking fifth in the standings, Rose isn’t completely out of playoff contention, given that the top six teams will advance.

In addition, Reese will reunite with Chelsea Gray, Kahleah Copper, Lexie Hull, and head coach Nola Henry—all members of the 2025 inaugural Rose championship team. Instead of pairing with Kamlla Cardoso in the Windy City, Reese and Shakira Austin will make a formidable frontcourt duo.

Reese brings immediate defensive presence and post scoring, as Rose has lost three of its last four games, including a 25-point loss to Breeze BC, and a 26-point loss to Mist BC on Monday. Recording just 64 points, Austin, Copper, and Gray combined for 48 of them. Outrebounded and outperformed, Reese’s signing comes at the most critical time.

Given that Rose is at the bottom of the standings in rebounds (30 RPG), defensive rebounds (23.6 DRPG), and offensive rebounds (6.2 ORPG), Reese will make an instant impact as the club pushes for a playoff run.

Reese’s return completes a Rose roster that includes Copper, Gray, Hull, Austin, and Sug Sutton. Former Finals MVP, Gray, leads the club with 25.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 6.6 assists. A scoring bucket, Copper is back and healthy, averaging 19.3 points and  4.9 rebounds. In her second season, Austin is averaging 16.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks.

Can Reese, Rose BC Repeat as Unrivaled Champions?

Rose remains in playoff contention, and this year’s season has been dominated by a loaded Laces BC club (8-2) that rosters Alyssa Thomas, Jackie Young, and Brittney Sykes. Clinching a playoff spot, Phantom BC (8-3) has also secured its playoff berth, a team headlined by Kelsey Plum and Aliyah Boston.

The task to repeat as Unrivaled champions is as challenging as ever, as loaded Mist BC and Breeze BC clubs rank higher than Rose. Headlined by Breanna Stewart, Alisha Gray, Arike Ogunbowale, Alanna Smith, and Veronica Burton, Mist has been a dominant team all season, boasting a 7-4 record. Led by Paige Bueckers, Dominique Malonga, and a young core, Breeze BC ranks fourth with a 5-5 record.

Reese and Rose BC will resume action on Feb. 20 against Hive BC, and have three regular season matchups left, including against Laces BC (Feb. 22) and Lunar Owls BC (Feb. 27). The Unrivaled Semifinals will be held on Mar. 2, and the Championship will take place on Wednesday, Mar. 4.

While it’s unclear how the standings will shake out, Reese is all-in for the final stretch of the season and possible playoff run.
