Wisconsin and Minnesota have had a rivalry on the hardwood dating back as far as most can remember. The two bordering states share many of the country’s finest D-3 programs, and while they do not own a ton of D-1 universities, they own no shortage of D-1 college prospects. Breakdown USA and Mark Miller of the Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook agreed to end the debate in many cases, creating the Wisconsin/Minnesota Border Battle eighteen years ago.
Though the event didn’t have as many of the Wisconsin powerhouse programs for the ’25-’26 campaign, there was still a bevy of talent that you’ll be seeing at the D-1 ranks by the time that it is all said and done. Minnesota swept all but one game, with its No. 1-ranked 3A team, Totino-Grace, leading the way with a massive statement win.
Blending the history of the historic Hutton Arena at Hamline University (where legendary coach Don Meyer got his start), the Border Battle brought you back in time a bit for an outstanding day of hoops.
Here are the top performers from the 2026 Breakdown Border Battle:
Rashaad Davis, 5’11, PG, Nicolet HS (Wisconsin), 2026

As far as a Wisconsin high school point guard is concerned, there isn’t much more than you can ask for than Rashaad Davis. The gritty senior completely controls the game with his ability to facilitate for himself and others, as seen in Nicolet’s 68-67 win over Minnesota’s #6 4A team Maple Grove. Constantly in attack mode, Rashaad put pressure on the defense anytime with the rock and was patient with keeping his dribble alive. Moreover, he was excellent at utilizing different speeds to get to the rack.
Davis is heading to Southern Utah next year, where his Milwaukee ties will run deep, as former UW Milwaukee head coach Rob Jeter is now at the helm.
Dothan Ijadimbola, 6’6, SF, Totino-Grace HS (MN), 2026
While DeAngelo Dungey (who we will feature in our next piece) stole the show with his 27-point outing, it was Dothan Ijadimbola who brought the energy to get Totino-Grace cruising at Border Battle. The two-way wing brought massive intensity on the defensive end and changed the game with his physicality.
The Drake-bound power wing finished with 18 points and eight rebounds in limited playing time throughout TG’s 98-69 victory over Germantown (Wisconsin).
Deuce McDuffie, 6’7, SF/PF, Nicolet HS (Wisconsin), 2027
One of the higher-ranked juniors in the state of Wisconsin, Deuce McDuffie, showed his massive upside at the Breakdown Border Battle. The Milwaukee product has an outstanding left-to-right crossover, can play either forward slot, and brought defensive versatility during Nicolet’s win over a loaded Maple Grove squad.
The top-150 recruit certainly showed all of the tools to reach consensus four-star status after his play with Team Herro in the EYBL.
Kamar Thomas, 6’4, SG, DeLaSalle HS (Minnesota), 2027
A combo guard with size and length, Kamar Thomas carries over the traction that he gained over the summer playing with Game Elite in the New Balance P32 Circuit over to the high school season. The two-way junior was much more aggressive as a scorer, was incredibly difficult to stop going downhill, and looked much more confident as a jump shooter.
Finishing with 20 points, seven rebounds, and four assists, everyone in the crowd at Hamline was able to witness the versatility that has made him such an intriguing prospect in Minnesota.
Baboucarr Ann, 6’5, SG, Maple Grove HS (Minnesota), 2027
Despite his squad falling to Nicolet by one point and not playing his best game, the immense talent Baboucarr Ann brings to the table was on center stage at the Breakdown Border Battle. He was much more comfortable shooting the ball from three with his feet set, is one of the most creative finishers at the rim from the region, and is vastly underrated as a playmaker.
Ann is certainly right there amongst the front runners for the top 2027 in the state of Minnesota, and his play at the Border Battle didn’t disprove that.
Jacob Misslich, 6’5, SG, Franklin HS (Wisconsin), 2026
A player I was not familiar with leading into the event, Jacob Misslich immediately caught my eye with his ability to produce and impact the game in a variety of ways. The senior guard is a shot maker from a variety of levels, has some wiggle to his game to create off the bounce, and created a number of scoring opportunities for others at the Border Battle.
Jacob showed why he was recruited all the way down south to D-2 Florida Tech with his 23-point showing in Franklin’s win over Breck.
