The relationship between Phantom BC teammates Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Plum is scary only for their Unrivaled opponents.
PHILADELPHIA—Like so many trying to avoid addiction to their devices, Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Plum may have to monitor their screen time, but they appear to have things down pat as the second Unrivaled season presses forward.
Boston and Plum, collaborating on the new edition of Phantom BC, went viral earlier in this new season when the latter responded to a postgame query regarding Boston from TNT Sports’ Isis Young by smirkingly referring to her year-long complaints about “moving screens,” drawing a quizzical look from the three-on-three returnee.

Unlike Michael Jordan, however, it doesn’t appear that either party will “take that personally.” The duo likely cleared up any lingering lack of pleasantries when Unrivaled literally took its show on the road, as Phantom was one of four to partake in a Delco doubleheader on Friday night.
“It’s been amazing playing with Aaliyah and I love the way that she plays,” Plum posted, jokingly lamenting that “of course” her well-intentioned jab at Boston “got [her in trouble]. “I love her physicality. I think, for me, I’m learning how to play with her, get her the ball, and find the spots that she wants it, and you need that out here. It’s an extremely physical game, and so we’ve had a great connection so far. So we’re going to continue that.”
“It’s pretty great, honestly, just being with someone playing someone like KP,” Boston added. “I think, just looking at her work ethic, it continues to push me to be in that same space. But she continues to help me so much. I think a big part of that is definitely self-taught, but she’s awesome.”
Once three-on-three play got underway at Xfinity Mobile Arena, Boston and Plum kept the good vibes rolling by uniting for 40 of 71 points in a three-point win that best Breeze. Plum, continuing cash in on success during her Unrivaled debut, edged past Boston with 22 tallies, the last two securing the win after Philadelphia native Natasha Cloud scooped up a crucial final offensive rebound with the target score in sight.
From moving screens to dropping balls, Kelsey Plum and Aliyah Boston have become quite the duo.

While pleased with the way the whole team collaborated on Friday, which produced Phantom’s third win over its last four, head coach Roneeka Hodges was pleased with the way that her viral duo have made each other better.
“They work together in their player development group. They shoot together. They play pick and roll together,” Hodges noted, as Boston and Plum practiced on their own basket in a frigid Xfinity Mobile Arena before the record crowd arrived. “We practice hard. I think they have just built that chemistry on the court … We have good camaraderie. I think the energy is always good, and I think that plays a huge part in the product that you see on the court.”
The pairing of Plum and Boston was perhaps one of the most anticipated of the second Unrivaled circuit. Plum, well-known for throwing her weight beyond her traditional backcourt haunt, joined the fold this time around after watching the first edition, which saw Boston compete for Vinyl.
The third-year pro Boston, forced to grow up fairly quickly when her WNBA squad in Indiana was decimated by injury, helped push the Fever to within a win from the WNBA Finals. Entering this weekend, Boston is leading the way at over 52 percent shooting for the Phantom, which is enjoying a bit of a resurgence after missing the debut postseason tournament with a lineup in constant transition.
Boston and Plum kept the good vibes rolling in the Philadelphia follow-up last Sunday night, posting matching 18-point performance in 59-49 win over the Lunar Owls back at the Unrivaled hub in Miami. Boston capped off a double-double showing (accompanying her tally with 11 rebounds) with the game-winner, as the Ghost Gang held a plus-13 advantage on the scoreboard when she was paired with Plum.
Phantom (6-3) now faces a crucial showdown against league-leading Mist on Saturday night (8:45 p.m. ET, TruTV).
