The Buffalo Bills endured a rough stretch against the Denver Broncos in Saturday’s divisional round matchup. Denver’s fearsome defense gained momentum early by forcing a James Cook fumble at the start of the second quarter. Then Josh Allen committed turnovers on back-to-back possessions, allowing the Broncos to take a 13-point lead early in the second half.
Buffalo made it a 23-17 game with a 73-yard touchdown drive. However, Allen’s uncharacteristically mistake-prone outing continued with a brutal third-quarter interception. But the Bills’ defense stepped up and forced a Broncos punt. Then Allen responded with a nine-play, 85-yard drive capped by a perfectly thrown touchdown pass to Dalton Kincaid, giving Buffalo a 24-23 lead.

Josh Allen battles back in Bills’ divisional round clash

The Bills needed a big game out of Allen against Denver’s second-ranked defense. And the reigning MVP delivered with a touchdown toss to Mecole Hardman on Buffalo’s first possession.
But the Bills dug themselves a hole early in the game with three brutal fumbles. The Broncos capitalized on the miscues, scoring 13 points off Buffalo’s turnovers. Denver led 23-10 after hitting a field goal with 11:35 remaining in the third quarter.
But Allen battled back. The eighth-year veteran got the Bills within six points before ending a lengthy postseason streak by throwing an interception. Then Allen got back to work, finding Kincaid in the end zone and giving Buffalo its first lead since early in the second quarter.
Bo Nix also delivered in the clutch, hitting Marvin Mims for a 26-yard touchdown that put the Broncos up by three. But the Bills tied the score with an eight-play, 41-yard field goal drive that sent the divisional round showdown to overtime.
