Luca Marini got the job done at Valencia. In the final MotoGP race of the year, the Honda HRC Castrol rider scored the 9 points Honda needed to gain promotion from concessions Category D to Category C. Honda’s total manufacturer points score after the Valencia GP was 285, or 35.01% of the maximum possible 814 points.
Honda’s promotion brings the concessions system into the foreground once again. The system has been static for so long – Ducati in Category A, KTM and Aprilia in Category C, Honda and Yamaha in Category D – that you may have forgotten some of the details. What’s more, the system is more complicated for the next two years, with the new technical regulations coming into force in 2027, along with a change of official tire supplier from Michelin to Pirelli.
