Fritz Defeats Musetti to Begin ATP Finals Campaign
Monday’s results at the ATP Finals final in Turin, Italy saw former US Open finalist Taylor Fritz pick up his first victory of the week, defeating local favourite and late entrant Lorenzo Musetti 6-3, 6-4.
Needing one hour and 42 minutes to advance, Fritz will next face either Jannik Sinner or Felix Auger-Aliassime on Wednesday.
Sinner will begin his tournament tonight against the No. 8 seed from Canada. Sinner leads Auger-Aliassime 3-2 in career head-to-head meetings.
Musetti gained entry to the event after No. 4 seed Novak Djokovic withdrew after winning the tournament in Athens, Greece.
Djokovic defeated Musetti in the finals.
Sunday’s Group Results featured top seed Carlos Alcaraz taking out No. 7 Alex de Minaur 7-6(5), 6-2, and No. 3 seed Alexander Zverev ousted No. 5 seed Ben Shelton 6-3, 7-6(6).
