The intermediate class encountered track conditions that were not particularly tempting to riders, with a slowly drying track but not many keen to help speed it up. For much of the session it was less than a handful of riders circulating on track, with a few more joining in for a couple of exploratory laps late on. Alex Escrig was one of the few men who posted a decent amount of laps, claiming top spot on the timing screens by a tenth of a second ahead of Sergio Garcia.
