Rybakina Improves to 3-0 in Group Stage at WTA Finals
Former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina improved to 3-0 in the Group stage action of the WTA Finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, defeating Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-4, 6-4.
Alexandrova, who was a late replacement for an ill Madison Keys, was the alternate at the event.
Rybakina will now await her semifinal opponent on Saturday.
Later in the day, No. 2 seed Iga Swiatek lost to No. 4 seed Amanda Anisimova 6-7(3), 6-4, 6-2. Anisimova improved to 2-1 in the Group Stage, and Swiatek was eliminated from the competition.
On Thursday, No. 5 seed Jessica Pegula will go up against No. 8 seed Jasmine Paolini, and top seed Aryna Sabalenka will face No. 3 seed Coco Gauff in a rematch of the French Open final this year.
Sabalenka is currently 2-0 in the event, and Gauff stands at 1-1. Pegula also has one win and one loss, and Paolini has yet to win a match at this year’s event.

Musetti Aims to Qualify for Turin
No. 2 seed Lorenzo Musetti will attempt to qualify for the ATP Finals in Turin, Italy on Wednesday in Athens, Greece, facing three-time former Major winner Stan Wawrinka.
Musetti currently stands at 160 points behind Felix Auger-Aliassime, who is in eighth place for a spot in Turin.
Over in Metz, France, No. 3 seed Alexander Bublik also has an outside chance of qualifying for the year-end event, he will face Vitaliy Sachko in his opening match.
On Thursday, top seed Novak Djokovic will return to action in Athens, facing No. 6 seed Nuno Borges from Portugal.
Djokovic picked up his first-ever win against Alejandro Tabilo from Chile on Tuesday. Tabilo had previously defeated Djokovic on two occasions.
