Marc Marquez Diagnosed With Shoulder Fracture, To Skip Phillip Island And Sepang

Marc Marquez has been diagnosed with a fracture to his right shoulder and a damaged ligament after his crash on the first lap of the Indonesian Grand Prix at Mandalika. The fracture is to the coracoid process, a beak-like bone that is part of the clavicle or shoulder blade, and which is part of the structure holding the shoulder joint in place.

The good news for Marquez is that there is no displacement of the fracture, which means the bone should heal relatively quickly. The doctors, who were involved in the recovery of his broken right arm, have told Marquez that no surgery will be needed, and have chosen to immobilize the joint to allow it to heal. The medical team is taking a conservative approach, in the hope of a better outcome long term.
