Nottingham Forest have agreed to sign a former Premier League midfielder on loan with an obligation to make the transfer permanent next summer, according to reports.
Douglas Luiz, 27, joined Juventus from Aston Villa for £42.3million in 2024 but is now set to return to the English top flight on loan after the Italian giants struck a deal with the East Midlands club.
The Brazilian’s impending transfer marks a fourth arrival at the City Ground in just a matter of days, with Forest landing Omari Hutchinson, James McAtee and Arnaud Kalimuendo to take their summer spend beyond £140m.
Elsewhere this summer, Brazilian duo Jair Cunha and Igor Jesus have also joined from Botafogo, while former Southampton goalkeeper Angus Gunn has arrived on a free transfer and Dan Ndoye has has signed from Bologna.
According to The Athletic, Luiz is to become the latest addition to Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad, joining on loan for the remainder of the season.

Juventus and Forest have agreed to include an obligation to buy clause in the deal, based on a number of games played by Luiz at the City Ground this season.
While not obligatory, there is also reportedly an option to buy clause worth £26m, should Luiz not meet the required threshold of matches played.
The outlet does not detail how much the obligation to buy clause is worth, or whether it is different.
On the eve of the Premier League’s first weekend back, Santo cut a frustrated figure in an interview with Sky Sports, insisting that Forest were not ready for the campaign ahead as a result of a lack of recruitment.

‘We are very far – very, very far – from where we should be. We are very far in terms of preparation, in terms of planning, in terms of the squad,’ he said last Friday.
‘So we are all very worried that in two or three days time we are playing for the Premier League, the most demanding competition in the world. And we are very far. Very, very far.’
His remarks prompted Forest to splash out £93.5m on the acquisitions of McAtee, Kalimuendo and Hutchinson, who teamed up with Santo’s squad after their 3-0 triumph over Brentford on the opening weekend.
Chris Wood scored a brace at the City Ground, while Ndoye opened his account for Forest in what was his first Premier League start for the club.
