Eberechi Eze is not expected to feature for Crystal Palace in their opening Premier League fixture of the season against Chelsea after making a major decision over his future.
The England winger has been pursued by Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks, with both London giants in the hunt for additional firepower before the window ends.
Eze has now made a definitive decision over his future – and it seems that it will lead him to miss the Selhurst Park clash with Chelsea.
Transfer insider Sacha Tavolieri reports on X: “Eberechi Eze pushing to join Tottenham! He agreed on personal terms with Spurs and wants to leave Crystal Palace. Eze expected to be left out of the squad against Chelsea this Sunday. Eze wants to leave Crystal Palace.”
Tavolieri adds that there is “conflict looming”.
What has Glasner said about Eze?
Palace manager Oliver Glasner had previously indicated that Eze would start Sunday’s match with Chelsea, just as he featured in last weekend’s Community Shield triumph over Liverpool.
The manager addressed the situation in conjunction with that of Marc Guehi, who is linked with a move to the Reds.
Speaking to the media, Glasner said: “Marc has trained the entire week with us, every single training session, the same with Ebs.
“They’ve prepared the best way for the Chelsea game on Sunday afternoon.
“I’ve been in the football business for too long, so I know that at any time of any day, things can happen. If you ask me now, I expect both Marc and Ebs to start on Sunday.”
Palace have found Eze replacement
FootballTransfers understands that all that is holding up Eze’s exit is Palace finding a suitable replacement, but it appears that they now have an attainable target.
Leicester City winger Bilal El Khannouss has been earmarked as the man the club will chase by David Ornstein for The Athletic.
It is stressed, however, that no bid has been made yet and that a deal is likely to be “complex”.
Palace have started club-to-club talks, and the belief is that the player is keen on making the move back to the Premier League after being relegated with the Foxes last season.
El Khannouss is not the only player that Crystal Palace are chasing as they seek alternatives to Eze.
