Manchester United outcast Alejandro Garnacho wants to join Chelsea at all costs and is even willing to sacrifice a year of his career to get his move, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Argentine is expected to leave Man Utd this summer after bluntly being told by Ruben Amorim to find a new club in the wake of the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham.

Chelsea, who were already keen on him in January, have reignited their interest in Garnacho, and talks have been taking place with Man Utd in recent days.

While discussions with Garnacho on personal terms have not proved an issue, the negotiations with Man Utd have become a bit of an issue. According to Fabrizio Romano, there is still a significant gap in valuation between the Premier League rivals.

The transfer insider reports that Chelsea are only willing to pay around €34.7 million (£30m), while Man Utd are demanding €57.8m (£50m). Moreover, the Blues need to complete more outgoings as they are also planning to sign Xavi Simons.

Garnacho only wants Chelsea

Romano adds that the player is unequivocal in his desire to join Chelsea. Garnacho only wants to move to Stamford Bridge this summer; he is refusing to engage with any other suitors.

He is playing with fire, though. Without a Plan B, he may be stuck at Man Utd should no agreement between the two clubs be reached. Incredibly, Romano reports that Garnacho is even willing to waste a year of his career in the stands at Old Trafford.

“Chelsea or nothing, even if the price to pay is staying at [Man Utd] completely out of the project,” Romano writes. “He’s waiting, hoping, working hard, and attentive to his phone to get a call from the Blues to travel for a medical.”

Chelsea have offered up players to sweeten the deal for Man Utd. The names of Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku, Axel Disasi and Renato Veiga have been broached, but Man Utd are only interested in money after splashing over €230m on new recruits without first making sales.
