Eberechi Eze appears increasingly likely to be Arsenal’s last big signing of the transfer window, with Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish dropping a hint that the move is on following the Community Shield.

Eze played a part in the 2-2 draw with Liverpool, which was subsequently decided on penalties as Palace claimed a 3-2 success.

FootballTransfers exclusively reported on Saturday that all that stands between the England winger and a dream move to Arsenal is a replacement being found at the South London club. The Gunners have agreed a financial package and personal terms with Eze, who is now waiting for the deal to be wrapped up.

Certainly, Parish did not deny the possibility of a move when he spoke to the media after Palace’s victory, which comes just weeks after they won the FA Cup at Wembley.

He was asked if the likes of Eze and Marc Guehi, who has been linked with Liverpool, could be helped persuaded to stay thanks to such events, and he replied frankly: “Yeah of course but players come and go in football clubs. I mean it’s a life cycle isn’t it?”

He added: “Hopefully they’ll still be here, that’s what I’d like.”

Palace reluctantly allowing Eze to leave

FootballTransfers sources have indicated that Arsenal are ready to pay €63.5m to sign Eze, with €30m of this coming immediately and the remainder to be paid in instalments.

Palace are naturally reluctant to allow such a player to leave, but they are appreciative of the opportunity that Arsenal will offer him. Furthermore, the Gunners are offering a fair price for a player who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €54m.

Eze is eager to have the opportunity to play Champions League football for the first time in the season before the World Cup, while he is also excited to play for a team that is expected to challenge for the Premier League title.

The deal is almost complete, with Palace just needing to find his replacement.
