Liverpool are poised to complete another major transfer in what has been an incredible summer for Arne Slot’s side.

The Anfield club have been working on rearranging their attacking options all summer, with the arrival of €90 million forward Hugo Ekitike and the prospect of Alexander Isak still signing from Newcastle for a club-record fee.

There is also the late possibility of a bid for PSG winger Bradley Barcola, although Fabrizio Romano says that the Reds will not get both the France international and Isak.

And don’t sleep on the arrival of 40-goal youngster Will Wright from Salford City, who has joined as a prospect for the future.

The renewal process means that players also need to leave, and following the big-money exit of Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich, that is set to continue with the sale of Darwin Nunez to Al-Hilal.

Nunez heading for Anfield exit

Nunez has been given permission to travel to complete the formalities of the transfer, insider Ben Jacobs has reported.

“Darwin Nunez has been given permission to travel to Germany for his Al-Hilal medical. He will say his goodbyes today at AXA,” Jacobs tweeted.

Liverpool are set to receive a transfer fee of €53 million from the Saudi Pro League club. This is roughly in line with the 26-year-old forward’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €51m. It ensures that the Reds will receive a good portion of the €85m fee they initially paid for the South American.

For Nunez, meanwhile, the transfer to Al-Hilal will be life-changing. He has agreed a three-year contract with the Saudi club that will be worth €21.5m per season, ensuring that he has a take-home pay that matches anything that any player in European football boasts.

Crucially, it also clears the way for Liverpool to sign Isak in a transfer that could accelerate again in the days ahead.
