The accolades keep piling up for Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft was named Rookie of the Month for July on Monday, marking her second consecutive monthly honor and further solidifying her place among the league’s rising stars.
Bueckers becomes the only rookie to repeat as the award’s recipient this season and joins elite company as just the fourth player in franchise history to win it multiple times. In a year where the rookie class has generated plenty of buzz, Bueckers has separated herself with a unique combination of scoring, playmaking, and defensive impact.

Paige Bueckers is on a Record-Breaking Pace
Bueckers averaged 18.2 points, 5.2 assists, and 1.8 steals per game in July, leading the Wings in all three categories while ranking top 10 in the league. Her consistency hasn’t wavered across the full season, either. She leads all WNBA rookies in scoring (18.3) and assists (5.5), sits second in steals (1.8), and is among the top six rookies in both rebounds and blocks. Among all WNBA players, she is seventh in scoring and ranks in the top 10 for assists and steals.
She reached a major milestone on July 30, surpassing 400 career points and tying WNBA legend Cynthia Cooper as the fastest player in league history to record 400 points and 100 assists, accomplishing the feat in just 22 games.

Her scoring outbursts have become routine. In July alone, she recorded five games with 20 or more points, the most among rookies. She now ranks sixth in the WNBA for total 20-point performances this season and has moved past Sandy Brondello for third in Wings franchise history for 20-point games by a rookie.
Laying the Foundation for the Dallas Wings
Despite the Wings’ 8-21 record, Bueckers has remained a steadying force, shouldering primary ball-handling duties while facing nightly defensive pressure designed to limit her impact. Yet, she continues to produce at an elite level.
Through 23 games, Bueckers has already climbed into the franchise’s top 10 for rookie totals in points, assists, and steals. But the numbers tell only part of the story. Night after night, her impact is felt in moments where the Wings need a spark, a composed possession, or a critical basket.
Bueckers’ back-to-back Rookie of the Month honors are the latest recognition of a season that has her firmly as the frontrunner in the WNBA Rookie of the Year conversation, pulling away from competitors like Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Citron of the Washington Mystics.
With several marquee matchups remaining, including a road rematch against the New York Liberty on Tuesday, Bueckers will have more opportunities to etch her name into the league’s history books.
Bueckers has shown all season why she is the Wings’ franchise centerpiece for the future.
