LAS VEGAS — 2025 NBA Summer League in Sin City is officially a wrap, as Kon Knueppel and the Charlotte Hornets downed the Sacramento Kings 83-78 on Sunday night’s championship game.
Knueppel earned the official Summer League MVP honors with a 21-point performance on 8-of-14 shooting, although the award typically goes to the best player on the winning team and not the summer’s biggest star.
That’s where we come in. Ballislife has been tracking Summer League extensively through our “Summer League Standouts” series the past few weeks, and now it’s time to unveil BIL’s official MVP and All-Summer League team.
MVP: Kyle Filipowski, Utah Jazz

Filipowski got more NBA playing time in his rookie year than most players who got sent to Las Vegas this summer. That was every bit apparent with the 21-year-old center’s performance in his three appearances at the showcase.
Filipowski led the Summer League in scoring at 29.3 points per game, in addition to grabbing 7.7 rebounds and dishing out 2.3 assists. Filipowski’s stat line was anchored by a 32-point performance against the eventual champion Hornets on July 11 and a 35-point, 11-rebound double-double against the Spurs on July 14. The Duke product shot 56 percent from the field overall and 39 percent from 3-point range on an average of 7.7 attempts per game from beyond the arc.
All-Summer League team
G: Jordan Miller, Los Angeles Clippers
Miller has become a Summer League cult hero over the last two seasons. As Clippers insider Justin Russo pointed out on BlueSky last night, Miller has scored 19+ points in 10 consecutive Summer League games. Miller averaged 22 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists on this go-around and had a legitimate case of being named Summer League MVP if it weren’t for Filipowski.
G: Javon Freeman-Liberty, Chicago Bulls
The Chicago Bulls had a few representatives on the Summer League standouts list this past week, including Javion Young and Yuki Kawamura. Freeman-Liberty was also featured, and ultimately, he stood out the most in his five appearances. The Chicago native averaged 21 points, six rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. Freeman-Liberty’s 22-point, nine-rebound, six-assist performance against the Jazz on Friday secured his spot on the All-Summer League team ahead of Sacramento’s Nique Clifford, who seemed like a shoo-in before a statistical drop off over the weekend.
G/F: Terrance Shannon, Minnesota Timberwolves
Shannon had arguably the most well-rounded performance at Summer League. The second-year Illinois product averaged 22.7 points, six rebounds and five assists, in addition to 1.5 steals. The Timberwolves went 3-0 while Shannon was in the lineup and he was the team’s top performer in all three games. Shannon’s best performance was on opening night, July 10, where he tallied 20 points, six rebounds and nine assists in a 98-91 win over the New Orleans Pelicans.
F: David Jones-Garcia, San Antonio Spurs
Jones-Garcia, like Miller, is a name that will ring in the annals of Summer League after following a strong outing last summer with another consistent performance in Las Vegas. Jones-Garcia averaged 21.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists for San Antonio. He was clearly the team’s most productive player throughout the 10-day stretch and one of the most productive players in the entire field.
C: Kyle Filipowski, Utah Jazz
