Even with Napheesa Collier’s status uncertain, the Minnesota Lynx will no doubt go the extra Miles this season.
After the Dallas Wings opened the draft by choosing Azzi Fudd out of UConn, the Lynx took Olivia Miles out of TCU in the second slot. Miles becomes the highest Horned Frog on the all-time WNBA draft board, passing 2005’s third overall choice Sandora Irvin.

“I think the versatility that I bring is second to none and I say that with confidence because I know and trust in my game and myself,” Miles said of what she brings to a team earlier this week. “I think you won’t find a better player who makes the people around them better.”
Miles could’ve been a lottery pick in the 2025 draft, but opted to move from Notre Dame to Fort Worth in one final season. Her decision was well-vindicated: Miles earned All-American honors with a career-best 19.6 points per game while dishing out 6.6 assists. She would guide the Horned Frogs back to the regional final round at the NCAA Tournament, notably coming two assists short of a triple double in the Sweet 16 triumph over Virginia.

“I can’t even describe what this year did for me in words,” Miles said of her decision to stay. “I think mentally, physically, emotionally, everything that I was able to grow and to do and to cultivate out of myself, get more potential out of myself, before I was a pro [was huge]. I think I’m more ready. But this year has paid off in so many different ways, and I can’t wait for it to translate.”
